Hawthorne Police and a representative of Tyco Animal Control Services responded and found the bear in the tree eating. They decided the bear was not an immediate threat to anyone and asked the residents of the home where the bear was camped out to stay inside.
Animal officials were hoping the bear would come down on its own.
A black bear, possibly the same one, was spotted outside the Jefferson Middle School in Hawthorne Monday morning.
Check out the gallery from photographer Boyd A. Loving, who was at the scene.
