Adam Schmidt Jr., 65, Of Passaic

PASSAIC, N.J. -- Adam "Smitty" Schmidt Jr., 65, of Passaic, passed away at home Saturday, Nov. 21. 

He was born in Steinheim, Germany, and came to the United States, settling in Passaic. 

Schmidt was a truck driver for Moon Carrier of Clifton, worked as a mason in the family business, Adam Schmidt Construction Co., and retired as a truck driver for New England Motor Freight Co. 

He also was a member of the Teamsters Union and a former parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Passaic.

His "first love" was a yellow 1968 Chevy II 427 funny car, and he had just completed restorations to a 1963 Chevrolet Impala. 

He was the son of the late Adam Schmidt Sr. and Marie (Staudinger) Schmidt; brother of Joseph and Frank Schmidt, both of Clifton, Eva Timbiano of Passaic and Anita Kipikasha of Winter Park, Fla.; and the uncle of Joseph, Lori, Jessica, Samantha, Frank, Courtney, Steven, Sabrina and Adam.
