Carol A. Koll, 77, Passaic Native

PASSAIC, N.J. -- Carol A. Koll, a Passaic native, died Sunday, Sept. 20. She was 77. 

Koll was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Passaic, N.J., to George and Clara Sapochak and grew up in Passaic and Paramus. 

She graduated from Pope Pius XII High School Class of 1955. She earned a B.S. from Farleigh Dickinson University and a B.A. and a Masters in library science from William Paterson University. 

Koll was a former resident of Waldwick for more than 38 years prior to moving to the Berkeley Township section of Toms River 13 years ago. She was a member of St. Luke’s R.C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus,, where she was a parishioner for more than 38 years. She also was a member and parishioner of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Toms River the last 13 years. 

Koll worked as a librarian and teacher in the Mahwah and Old Tappan school systems, for the U.S. Department of Labor in New York City and for AIG International in Tarrytown, N.Y., prior to her retirement in 1994. She was a Seton Associate with the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth for more than 15 years, a Lions International member for 33 years and a member of the Honorable Blue Goose International for more than 23 years. She also was involved in the Silver Ridge North of Berkeley Township Women’s Club and First Aid Auxiliary. 

Koll is survived by a daughter, Suzanne (Brian) Carley of Mahwah, and her son Gregory (Esther) of Hillsborough;; four grandchildren, Jacquelynn Carley, Gregory Koll, Christopher Koll, and Nikolas Koll; a sister Joan Draper; and niece Jill Draper of Berkeley Township.

She was interred at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus.
