Carolyn Joustra, 79, Formerly Of Hawthorne

HAWTHORNE, N.J. – Carolyn Joustra, a resident of St. Petersburg, Fla. and formerly of Hawthorne, died Tuesday, July 19. She was 79.

She was born in Paterson and lived in Hawthorne since 1957, before moving to St. Petersburg last year.

Prior to her retirement, she was a receptionist with Atlantic Stewardship Bank in Midland Park. She also was a member of Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prospect Park.

She is survived by her children Mark Joustra of Midland Park, Tim Joustra and his wife Barbara of Florida, Paul Joustra and his wife Debbie of Florida and Steven Joustra of Florida; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Corene De Graaf and Henry Riemersma.

She was predeceased by her husband Henry Joustra; and sister Florence Falkena.

The family will receive family and friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at Unity Christian Reformed Church, 339 N. 11th St., Prospect Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made in her memory to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Ave., North Haledon, NJ 07508.
