Eugene Christopher Tolomeo, 93, Formerly Of Paterson

OAKLAND, N.J. – Eugene Christopher Tolomeo, a resident of Oakland, died Thursday, July 21. He was 93.

He was born Sept. 24, 1922, and was raised in Paterson.

He attended St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, and served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a charter member and president of the Paterson Serra Club, and was an active member of the Most Blessed Sacrament parish in Franklin Lakes, serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister and a member of the Cursillo and Men’s Cornerstone groups.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Tolomeo of Wyckoff; children, Jodee, Maria, Therese, Annette, Marianne, Christopher and Eugene; and 19 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Vander Plaat Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, 787 Franklin Lake Road, Franklin Lakes. Interment to follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.
