Vincent 'Jimmy' Giannone, 93, Former Clifton Resident

FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Vincent J. "Jimmy" Giannone, of Fair Lawn, died on Wednesday, March 1. He was 93.

Born and raised in Paterson, Giannone lived in West Paterson and Clifton for many years prior to settling in Fair Lawn a year ago. Before he retired, he was the owner and operator of T&G Trucking Company, in Paterson, for many years.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was an avid wine maker, who enjoyed boxing and frequenting the Meadowlands Race Track. 

"But most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren," information from the funeral home noted. "Jimmy will be missed by all who loved him."

Giannone is survived by his children, James Giannone, Dottie Mayo and Julie Mayo; grandchildren Lisa, Eric, Darla and Adam; great-grandchildren Corey, Nicholas, Rachel, Emma and James; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his wife, Julia (Nauta) Giannone, and his siblings, Mateo Giannone, Carmela Farrell, Frances Cascone and Jean O'Donnell. 

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Monday, March 6, at the Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Rd., in Fair Lawn. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow, at George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
