Former Passaic Housing Authority Commisioner Rejects Plea Deal

PASSAIC, N.J. -- A former Passaic Housing Authority commissioner accused of dealing drugs and illegally possessing a weapon took a step toward a criminal trial Tuesday when he rejected a plea deal offered by the state, according to northjersey.com.

Darien Allen, a former schools employee who is accused of having 40 grams of cocaine, a scale often used in drug sales and an illegal 9mm handgun at his Passaic apartment, refused to enter a guilty plea that would have guaranteed him six years in prison, the story said.

Allen, who was fired from his position soon after his arrest in August 2014, is to return to court Nov. 10, according to the story.
