Officer Daniel Rinaldi and Sgt. Amy Perlmutter stopped the 2008 Ford Focus for having tinted windows on East Main and North 6th Street late Sunday morning, Detective Walter Richmond said.

Both “immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle,” Richmond said.

The driver, 25-year-old Quaashir Scarborough of Paterson, “admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day,” the detective said.

A search turned up 210 bags of heroin stamped “BANGMAN” in purple ink packaged for sale, along with 19 small bags of cocaine and multi-colored elastic bands, Richmond said.

Scarborough was arrested and processed on various drug and motor vehicles charges and released, under the 2017 New Jersey bail reform law, pending a hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court in Paterson.
