Shoplifter Steals Toys From Wayne Police Department Bin, Authorities Charge

WAYNE, N.J. — A accused shoplifter snatched a couple of items from a Toys for Tots donation bin on his way out of Wayne police headquarters, authorities said.

Staroben Louis, 22, of Irvington was arrested along with and Jaleel W. Bobbitt of Maplewood, 21, on Friday after they were caught shoplifting more than $600 worth of clothes from the Lord & Taylor store in the Willowbrook Mall, Capt. Laurence Martin said Monday.

They had just been released on summonses after being processed at headquarters when surveillance video caught Louis stealing $60 worth of toys, Martin said.

All told, Louis was charged with shoplifting, possession of anti-shoplifiting burglary devices, theft of movable property for the Toys for Tots items, and an outstanding warrant from Clark. Bobbitt was charged with shoplifting.
