CLIFTON, N.J. -- Clifton police were searching for a would-be weekend robber who fired a shot into a car stopped at a local intersection.

Both victims said the gunman approached them at 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Main and Harding avenues and demanded "certain property," Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.

Moments later, he fired a shot and the driver sped off, he said.

No one was injured, Bracken said.

The victims described him only as black and in his 20s.
