The walk-a-thon will be a fun and exciting event for community members to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention.

Admission is $1 and all proceeds will benefit the American Suicide Prevention Foundation. Click here to register and donate to the event. Walk donations are being accepted until Thursday, June 30.

Participants will be encouraged to complete 1 mile (seven laps around the school building), but those interested in less walking can participate in a basketball competition featuring a 3-on-3 game and a free-throw contest.

“For the past month, our students have been focused on learning about mental health and mental illness, as May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, and our walk at the start of June is a culmination of our efforts throughout,” said Riza Gurcanli, school lead. “We encourage the entire Paterson community to join us on June 10, 2016, for this important cause.”

Paterson Charter School for Science & Technology has been raising money throughout the entire month of May and encourages donations of food, dessert and water bottles to help kick-start the Campus Walk-a-thon.

Check-in/registration time for the walk-a-thon will be 3:45 p.m. The walk will be from 4-7 p.m.
