Sponsored by the Wayne Alliance and facilitated by school counselor Jackie Molina and Social Studies teacher Carol Schweighardt, Kids Connect is an after-school club consisting of motivated students in grades 6-8 are interested in raising their self-esteem, self-awareness and appreciation of others.

This life skills program gives students an opportunity to reflect upon their lives and examine the quality of their relationships, which fosters a sense of connectedness and provides an opportunity for kids to develop emotional intelligence in order to cope effectively with life’s challenges.

In a recent session, students participated in a team-building activity called “Life Line,” which opened up the conversation about drug prevention, peer pressure and the importance of supporting each other.

The students had a blast with this activity, and it really helped them to visualize that with the proper support, they can overcome any challenge in their path to a healthy lifestyle.
