PASSAIC, N.J. -- An Alumni Flag Football Game for players and cheerleaders is planned for past Passaic High School graduates on Saturday, June 11 at Boverini Stadium.

All alumni are welcome come out and participate or spectate. The games starts at 1 p.m. There will be an official after game meet and greet/after party at Omni Lounge, 570 Main Ave., Passaic.

The event raises funds for Markiah Jonae Holmes-Pritchett, a college bound student athlete.

Passaic area businesses interested in sponsoring the event can call 973-521-1841. Banners will be provided.

Players or Cheerleaders interested in participating should contact Jay Hawes Jasonehawes@gmail.com with year of graduation from PHS.

Jason Hawes, Sr. is a 1987 graduate of Passaic High School where he was an All-State quarterback. He also played in the Arena Football League for several years with the New York CityHawks (MSG) , and the NJ RedDawgs (Meadowlands Arena).

This will be the 4th Annual Passaic High School Alumni Scholarship Flag Football/Cheerleaders game.

"This has been my attempt to ‘Pay it Forward' to the college bound PHS student athletes who have exemplified an overall effort to achieve academically and in sports. Most of my fundraising is done with T-shirt Sales, GoFundMe accounts and concession at the actual game. As a graduating senior from PHS in 1987, I can recall the financial difficulties I faced early while attending Southern Connecticut State University," Hawes said.

"I have pledged to do as much as I possibly can to give back. I am asking PHS alumni or anyone who supports this cause to give whatever they can. No amount is too small. Football has made a path for me in life. I encourage young athletes to use it as a tool to further their education as well as travel the country."

Jessica Lezcano (Head of Passaic Recreation) Sherri Grier (Student Assistance Counselor/ Anti-Bullying Specialist, Lincoln Middle School) Tracey Pullen esq. (PHS Alumni, Organizer) (Mayor Alex Blanco) assisted with this event
