Former Mahwah EMS Volunteer Threatened To Kill Gov. Murphy, Arrested In FL: Officials
A Bergen County man accused of threatening to kill Governor Phil Murphy was arrested in Florida, where authorities say he had a motorcycle, an SUV, and an RV — and a history of social media posts showing weapons.
Russ Semeran, 53, who has ties to Allendale and Mahwah, was taken into custody on Sunday, May 18, by the U.S. Marshals Task Force, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
“Semeran was wanted by the New Jersey State Police Counter Terrorism Bureau out of New Jersey for terroristic threats where he threatened to kill Governor Phil Murphy,” the sheriff’s office said.

Driver, 89, Charged In Deadly Closter Plaza Parking Lot Crash, IDs Released: Cops
Charges have been filed against an 89-year-old driver in a crash that killed a 73-year-old woman outside HomeGoods in a Bergen County shopping center last week, authorities said.
The crash happened around 6:13 p.m. on Friday, May 2, in the Closter Plaza parking lot, according to Closter Police Capt. Vincent Aiello.
The victim, identified as Andrea Miller, was loading groceries into her car while facing east when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Julianna Simor of Allendale, police said.

South American Burglary Crew Captured By Cedar Grove Police
Twelve members of a South American burglary crew were apprehended by Cedar Grove police in Allendale, authorities announced on Friday, April 18.
The criminal crew, composed of Colombian natives, was targeting the homes of Asian business owners throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, Cedar Grove police said.
The sophisticated operation, which involved weekly residential burglaries, included wi-fi jammers, GPS devices, police scanners and multiple lookouts, police said. The victims suffered hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses, police said.

VA Man Sexually Assaulted Teen At Party In Allendale: Prosecutor
A 52-year-old man from Virginia is accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile in New Jersey, officials said.
Jose G. Sanchez, of Berryville, VA, sexually assaulted the victim, between ages 13 and 16, while at a party in Allendale last November, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella and charging documents obtained by Daily Voice.
On Friday, March 21, the Allendale Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile that had occurred in the past in Allendale, Musella said.

Sharon Moran, a lifelong Allendale resident, died Monday, Aug. 26, according to her obituary on the Vander Plaat Funeral Home website. She was 54 years old.
