Everett Hatlee, 18, of Troy, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide in Saratoga County Court on Friday, June 13, in the death of 15-year-old Kiera Ebert.
Hatlee admitted he was traveling at an “incredibly high rate of speed” on the evening of June 29, 2024, while impaired by cannabis when he lost control of his vehicle on Fonda Road in Waterford, according to the district attorney’s office.

Jose Ruben Fernandez, 45, of Glen Cove, was fatally hit around 10:26 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, near Cedar Swamp Road, according to the Homicide Squad.
Detectives say Fernandez was attempting to cross Glen Cove Road when he was struck by a silver 2003 Chevrolet Impala traveling southbound. He suffered severe trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medic.

John DeFalco, a 71-year-old Rockaway resident, was killed in a fatal crash on Route 80 on Sunday, June 8, authorities said.
At 9:18 a.m., a Kia Sportage driven by DeFalco was traveling westbound on Route 80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills when it veered off the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for New Jersey State Police said.
Defalco was pronounced dead at the scene, Lebron said.

A Virginia man died after he was ejected during a high-speed crash while trying to pass another vehicle on the shoulder of I-81, authorities said.
Jose O. Torres, 43, of Broadway, died at the scene after he lost control of his 2005 Ford F-150 and overturned while attempting to pass a Toyota RAV4 on the right shoulder in Shenandoah County shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday, June 8, Virginia State Police said.

At 6:03 p.m., officers responded to Hance Bridge Road at the intersection with Pennsylvania Avenue after a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck, traveling northbound on Hance Bridge Road, struck a 2023 red Ford Maverick that failed to stop at the stop sign on Pennsylvania Avenue while traveling eastbound, Vineland police said.
