US Veteran Hospitalized After Fire Consumes Southeast Home A two-alarm house fire in Putnam County damaged a residence and prompted a massive response on Thursday afternoon, April 17.  The fire broke out at around 12:45 p.m. at a home on Seven Oaks Lane in Southeast, according to the Brewster Fire Department.  Brewster Fire Chief Michael Miller was first on scene and confirmed a working structure fire, immediately requesting a second alarm.  The homeowner, an elderly US military veteran, was inside the home at the time of the blaze but managed to escape without injury. Car Crashes Into Woods In Carmel, Driver Hospitalized A driver was taken to a hospital after crashing their vehicle into the woods in Putnam County, causing a temporary road closure.  The crash happened on Sunday, March 30 at around 4:40 p.m., when a car crashed off-road in the area of 77 Drewville Rd. in Carmel, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department.  The driver of the vehicle was pulled out by responding fire crews and transported to a nearby hospital.  The road was closed for around 40 minutes on Sunday afternoon as crews conducted their investigation into the crash.

SUV Flips On Road In Mahopac (Photos) A crash in Putnam County left a vehicle on its side and temporarily blocked a lane of traffic on a curvy road.  The crash happened at around 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, when an SUV flipped in the area of Miller Road and Route 118 in Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. The incident prompted a fast response from Carmel Police, the Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corp., and the Somers Volunteer Fire Department in addition to Mahopac fire crews. Road Reopens After 'Death Investigation' In Carmel (Developing) A section of road in Putnam County has reopened following a police investigation into a death. Hughson Road in the town of Carmel was closed from Stoneleigh Avenue to Cross Road as authorities investigated a death, Carmel Police announced on Thursday, Jan. 16. Carmel Police Lt. Michael Bodo said they were conducting a "death investigation" at the scene.
