A year ago, at Rob Gallagher’s 40th birthday party, everything seemed normal – great, even.

Amy Saccone, a 43-year-old Cranford resident, died on Sunday, June 18 after a two-year battle with colon cancer, according to her obituary.
Amy grew up in Matawan and attended Georgian Court University in Lakewood, having double majored in biology and chemistry, her obituary says. She worked in technical sales and product management and was an account executive for Catalent, according to her obituary.

A popular UPS driver with routes in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, is seeking the public’s assistance as he and his wife both wage a battle against cancer.
UPS employee Jason Ellis, 47, and his wife Shauna, 43, who have been married for 14 years and share two teenage children in Fort Washington, Maryland, now share something more ominous: a cancer diagnosis.

A popular reporter has died at the age of 44.
ESPN reporter Jeff Dickerson, who covered the Chicago Bears, died on Tuesday, Dec. 28, from complications with colon cancer, according to a report from ESPN.
His wife, Caitlin, died two years ago after years of treatments and complications from melanoma, the news outlet reported.
Dickerson is survived by his parents and his 11-year-old son, Parker.

Beloved Trenton resident Samuel Zinnah died in a valiant battle with colon cancer on Nov. 24 at the age of 33.
Born in Monrovia, Liberia, Zinnah moved to Trenton during his teen years, his obituary says.
Zinnah went on to build a life in Trenton, establishing a career, marrying his caring and compassionate wife, Sujeydis, and deepening his connection with God, his memorial says.

Mitch Hertzler of Lancaster County was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, according to his wife Kat Hertzler.
He started a six months of chemotherapy treatment in September.
Prior to starting chemotherapy he had been hospitalized for the past two weeks at Lancaster General Hospital.
