A 36-year-old man has been sentenced for killing a Long Island man while at a Hudson Valley hotel.
During the unprovoked shooting Suffolk County Paul Kutz, age 52, of East Northport, was killed at the Courtyard by Marriott in the town of Poughkeepsie on Sunday, Oct. 2, while visiting his youngest son at Marist College.

Duo Indicted For Murder Of Dad At Hotel In Hudson Valley
Two transient men have been indicted by a grand jury for the unprovoked shooting death of a father of three from the region.
Dutchess County District Attorney William Grady announced on Friday, Oct. 7, that a grand jury voted to indict Roy Johnson and Devin Taylor in the death of Long Island resident Paul Kutz, age 53, of East Northport, at the Courtyard by Marriott in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Sunday, Oct. 2.
The indictment did away with the need for a preliminary hearing, which was scheduled for Friday, Grady said.

Two homeless men who are being held in the fatal hotel shooting of a father of a freshman student who was visiting Marist College in Poughkeepsie on Family Weekend were not placed at the hotel by the county.

Two men charged in the fatal hotel shooting of an area man who was visiting Marist College in Poughkeepsie on Family Weekend have previous criminal histories.
The two men, identified as Roy Johnson Jr., age 35, and Devin Taylor, age 26, have been charged in the death of Long Island resident Paul Kutz, age 53, of East Northport, at the Courtyard by Marriott in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Both men have spent time in prison and are allegedly currently being investigated for a previous robbery and murder, reported NBC New York.

New Hampshire Man In Custody After Hours-Long Standoff At Connecticut Hotel
After a standoff that lasted more than three hours, a New England man who was barricaded in a hotel room with a woman was arrested by police.
Jordan Pappalardo, age 26, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was arrested on Monday, April 26, in Connecticut by Manchester Police after he told officers he had a gun and refused to come out of the Courtyard By Marriott, said Lt. Ryan Shea of the Manchester Police Department.
The incident began around 10:30 p.m. when officers attempted to contact Pappalardo who had an extraditable warrant out of New Hampshire, said Shea.

Nordstrom To Hold Event For 280 New Jobs At Norwalk Store
As the finishing touches go on the new SoNo Collection Nordstrom store in Norwalk, the company is planning a mass hiring event for more than 280 positions.
Recruiters will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel at 474 Main Ave., in Norwalk.
The company is looking for both sales and support staff that includes positions from beauty consultants and hairstylists to housekeeping, loss prevention, and positions in the new store's restaurant and coffee bar.

The State Labor Department is hosting jobs fairs for Resorts World Catskills, which is opening in Sullivan County.
Job fairs are being held Wednesday, Jan. 17 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 68 Crystal Run Road in Middletown and on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from noon to 7 p.m. at Courtyard by Marriott at 24 Crystal Run Crossing in Middletown.
Some of the current positions include bartenders, cocktail servers, cage cashiers, cooks, servers, housekeepers, stewards, and security.
