Tropical Storm Chantal Makes Landfall, Now Tracking North With Strong Winds, Torrential Rain
Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall just before sunrise Sunday, July 6, near Litchfield Beach, South Carolina, bringing strong winds, torrential rain, and storm surge to parts of the state’s coast.
The National Hurricane Center said tropical storm conditions will persist in the warning area through Sunday morning, with heavy rainfall continuing across South Carolina through the day and into North Carolina by Monday, July 7.
Forecasters warned of flash flooding and localized rainfall totals of up to 10 inches near the storm’s center.

Two Burlington City residents were arrested and charged for their role in a shooting in Burlington City, authorities announced on Monday, June 23.
Shaun Causey, 38 and Jamaar White, 32, face aggravated assault and numerous weapons charges, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia Bradshaw and City of Burlington Police Chief Ryan Elbertson said.
On Monday, June 9, City of Burlington police responded the 600 block of Bordentown after Causey and White shot at each other while running along Bordentown and Columbus roads, Bradshaw said. Neither was directly hit, Bradshaw said.

The recalled cucumbers, grown in Boynton Beach, Florida, and distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales, were shipped to retailers, distribution centers, wholesalers, and food service dealers from Tuesday, April 29, to Monday, May 19.
