Man Killed After Exiting Moving Car On Route 78: Njsp A 20-year-old Newark man was killed after he left a car while it was in motion on Route 78 on Friday, April 11, authorities said. At 11:11 p.m., officers responded to Route 78 West at Exit 55 in Newark, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Jason Ellis exited a Nissan Rogue while it was heading westbound on Route 78, Lebron said. As a result of the impact, Ellis sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said. The investigation is ongoing, Lebron said.
