"The next step will be for the board to work through the budget process in order to make whatever adjustments to the budget are necessary in order to provide funding for the program," BOE President Eileen Albanese told Daily Voice.
"That process will take place over the next several months with the full board working together to present a balanced budget in the spring."
The program will be put into the school budget for September 2016 under the 2 percent tax increase, so it won't have to go to a town vote.
Albanese said she and her colleagues explored full-day kindergarten for "quite some time."
In the November 2015 election, 53 percent of voters initially shot down the proposal 5,048 to 4,455 on the ballot question.
Wayne mom and full-day kindergarten advocate Tracy McNie Rozansky knows there's still a long road ahead, but she's thrilled with the outcome thus far (SEE: Wayne Residents Urge Neighbors To Vote For Full-Day Kindergarten).
"Huge victory for kids in Wayne tonight," said Rozansky, who is open to forming a committee with other parents to help district officials work out the specifics.
"We're really looking forward to working with the board," she said. "... I think they really made the best decision possible for our children and the future of our town."
