WAYNE, N.J. — Wayne remains the only municipality in Passaic County without full-day kindergarten after 53% of voters shot down the proposal on Tuesday.
Opponents defeated the ballot question by a vote of 5,048 to 4,455.
Taxpayers will not be paying the $2.1 million that would have been added to the 2015-2016 budget (SEE: Wayne Supporter Make Last Push For Full-Day Kindergarten ).
"We're not done," said supporter Seth Ruderman on the Wayne For Full-Day Kindergarten Facebook page. "Not by a long shot."
