DePasque's name was already familiar to the record books, as his older brother Anthony joined the 100-win club as well.
"It was great," Pat DePasque told Daily Voice. "The 100th win was a big step to me because it makes me work harder. Now I have a target on my back."
It only took him 13 seconds to earn that milestone victory as he pinned his Passaic County Tech opponent at the recent Bloomfield Tournament earlier in the season.
The senior wrestler then turned his attention to passing his brother's overall win total of 106. They were tied at that number as of Jan. 28.
DePasque started wrestling when he was around 6 and said his love of winning hooked him on the sport.
"You don't have any other teammates behind you so it's only you and the other kid," he said. "You have nobody else to blame. If you don't work hard, it shows. It proves who's really the best."
His coach Dan Geleta credited the DePasque parents for raising so many talented wrestlers. A third DePasque, Matthew, is also a sophomore on the team.
Geleta said his co-captain Pat DePasque is a great guy.
"Great character, it's a pleasure to coach him," Geleta said. "He learns very quickly."
DePasque said he was undecided still on what school to attend next year. He wants to study physical therapy and would continue wrestling if the school has a team, he said.
