Magazine Ranks Rhinebeck Among Top Rising Towns For 2017
RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Rhinebeck has made it onto House Beautiful’s road trip bucket list for 2017.
The magazine anointed 11 small towns from across the United States as ones it expects to be “huge” this year.
Rhinebeck came in at No. 8.
The historic, yet sophisticated, town is nestled by the Hudson River and has views of the magnificent Catskill Mountains.
It is known for its tree-lined streets, shops, restaurants, art galleries, and cultural venues such as Upstate Films, a downtown theater that that has been showing indie, foreign, and classic films since the 1970’s.

Agriculture Remains Strongly Rooted In Dutchess, Molinaro Says
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – Agriculture is truly a growth industry in Dutchess, says the county's chief cheerleader, Marcus J. Molinaro.
In the past eight years, the number of acres devoted to growing crops and raising livestock such as horses, cows, and chickens has sprouted to 196,164 acres from 164,380, an increase of 19 percent.
The county recently released a "snapshot" of its farming industry based on stats from a state review.
According to that compilation, farms account for 38 percent of the county’s land.

Robert J. O'Dell, 90, Former Briarcliff Manor Resident
Robert J. O’Dell, a former longtime resident of Briarcliff Manor, died Friday, March 24, in Freehold, N.J. He was 90.
O’Dell, a well-known art director and graphic designer, was a resident of North Hanover, N.J.
The Wisconsin native was born in 1926 to the late Alvin and Jenny O’Dell. The family later moved to Wellsboro, Pa.
O’Dell served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1945. He graduated four years later from Pratt Institute with a degree in fine arts.
He and Louise A. Augustine were married in 1951.

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- There’s a science to book signings, especially when they involve big celebs like Bill Nye, says Aimee Gautreau of the Eastchester Barnes & Noble.
Nye and co-author Gregory Mone will be at the store at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, to promote the first installment of their new children’s book series, “Jack and the Geniuses.”
