Newark Man Gets Two Life Sentences For Sexually Abusing Children: Prosecutor A 42-year-old Newark man was sentenced on Friday, May 3, to two consecutive life sentences for sexually abusing three children, authorities said. The man, whose name is being withheld by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office to protect the identity of the victims, was convicted in Dec. 2022 of 27 counts of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of three children, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens said. NJ Hospital In Financial Duress Given 24 Hours To Draw Up Disaster Plan A beleaguered hospital in Essex County has just 24 hours to draw up a financial disaster plan, the state Department of Health ordered. In a letter sent to Carewell Health Medical Center in East Orange, Gene Rosenblum, the director of the Office of Program Compliance paints a dire financial picture for the hospital. NJ Daycare Worker Charged In Baby Assault A 38-year-old daycare teacher in Morris County was recently charged with assaulting a 16-month old baby in March, authorities said. Christina Susco, a Budd Lake resident and teacher at Mount Olive Child Care and Learning Center assaulted the baby on Monday, March 25, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said. Two-Alarm Fire Engulfs Clinton Home A two-alarm fire sent heavy smoke and flames into the sky on Wednesday, May 8 in Hunterdon County, authorities said. The single-family house fire occurred on Albert Drive, the Union Township Office of Emergency Management said. One-Way NJ Transit Tickets Will Soon Expire After 30 Days NJ Transit is rolling out a new policy for its one-way tickets. Beginning Monday, July 1, all one-way tickets will expire after 30 days, NJ Transit announced.
